OKM is a science and technology evangelist who has experience for about 17 years in research and development. His research focuses are in computing, meteorology, and environmental microbiota. He was instrumental in performing the sequencing and analysis of genomes and transcriptomes of many medicinal and economically important plants. Some of these studies have succeeded in identifying the key genes responsible for the medicinal properties of the plants such as rice, wheat, Fenugreek, Sesame, Ocimum, Moringa, Curry leaf and Cardamom. A couple of his research was focused on the microbiota of the farmland that influence the plant growth. He has also worked on the stress responsive genes and their transcription factors in Arabidopsis and Rice (Japonica and Indica). He pursued his studies in National Centre for Biological Studies (NCBS), Bangalore. He has published about 22 research articles in internationally reputed journals. He is an emerging entrepreneur interested in applying science and technology for agricultural reformation.
